GLCF intern Skylar Bluestein, GLCF Grants Manager Maria Papandreou, and Matt Brown, the executive director of OARS at a recent site visit.

In July, GLCF’s Jennifer Aradhya, Maria Papandreou, and Skylar Bluestein met with Matt Brown, the executive director of OARS, at OARS’s office in Concord and accompanied him to the convergence of Nashoba Brook and Assabet River.

GLCF partially funds OARS’s program identifying pollution sources in the Sudbury, Assabet, and Concord rivers and NETSCOUT partially funds OARS’s Water Wise Workshop education program for children ages 6–10 through GLCF. OARS primarily works in three focus areas:

      1. Raising awareness of the rivers’ value and threats to them through education and recreation programs;
    1. Collecting data and advocating for further study; and
    2. Collaborating with local and state governments and community members to encourage long term solutions that protect the rivers.
