We are thrilled to announces that OARS has joined 1% for the Planet as an impact partner! This partnership is intended to connect businesses—who commit 1% of their annual revenue through donations, in-kind services, and volunteering—with non-profits working toward environmental solutions. 

Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, 1% for the Planet is an accountability partner for businesses committed to giving back to impact partners making a difference around the globe. Through their global network of partners, 1% for the Planet has certified over $939 million in contributions toward environmental impact since its founding. These contributions help environmental organizations across the globe advance positive environmental change. “The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems,” writes Yvon Chouinard, co-founder of 1% for the Planet.

OARS’ work aligns with numerous impact themes prioritized by the 1% for the Planet network, including community conservation, freshwater ecosystems, environmental democracy, stewardship, education, and resilience.
