WHEN: Saturday, August 15, 9am-12pm

WHERE: 120 Concord Rd, Acton, MA

Invasive water chestnut (Trapa natans) forms dense, floating mats that choke waterways, displacing native species, hindering recreation, and reducing oxygen in the river. Help pull water chestnut as a land-based volunteer or by boat in the water!

Paddle Boston will provide up to 12 canoes, although we encourage you to bring your own kayak or canoe! Life jackets are required for those in boats.

You will be required to fill out a Town of Acton volunteer wavier and a Paddle Boston waiver (if using the canoes they provide) before you can participate. Please refer to the registration page for links to both waivers.

Please remember the following to be best prepared for the event:

  1. Bring water & extra water (stay hydrated!)

  2. Wear appropriate clothes (these clothes will be permanetly dirty!)

  3. Wear appropriate shoes i.e water shoes/old sneakers

  4. Bring a hat (reduce heat exhaustion as best as possible!)

  5. Bring/wear sunscreen and bug spray!

  6. Wavier (if you forgot, we will have extra on site!)
