Protect Our Rivers and Water Supplies During Drought!

Massachusetts is facing more frequent and severe droughts, putting our rivers and water supplies at risk. The Drought Bill (HD.1423/SD.1668) will modernize drought management in Massachusetts, helping to ensure our rivers have the water they need to sustain fish, wildlife, and communities.

Last session, the Drought Bill made historic progress, passing the Senate. Now, we need to push it forward again.

We’re joining our partners at Mass Rivers in calling on our legislators to take action.

Please take just 5 minutes to help protect our rivers!

Subject: Please Cosponsor the Drought Bill (HD.1423/SD.1668)

Dear [Representative’s Name],

I am writing to urge you to cosponsor the Drought Bill (HD.1423/SD.1668)—a critical step toward protecting Massachusetts’ rivers, water supplies, and wildlife from the increasing threats of drought.

As a resident of the Sudbury, Assabet, and Concord river watershed, I have seen firsthand how droughts strain our local rivers, impacting fish, wildlife, and the communities that depend on them. Massachusetts’ current drought response is fragmented and inconsistent, leaving our water resources vulnerable.

Droughts are becoming longer and more severe, putting our drinking water, farms, and ecosystems at risk. This bill will modernize the state’s approach to drought management, ensuring a coordinated response that prioritizes water conservation when our rivers and water supplies need it most.

By cosponsoring this bill, you will help safeguard our rivers, protect our communities, and strengthen our resilience in a changing climate.

Please support the Drought Bill by signing on as a cosponsor. Thank you for your leadership in protecting Massachusetts’ natural resources.

Thank you for your commitment to protecting Massachusetts’ natural resources and ensuring a sustainable future for our waterways.
