TerraCorps Community Engagement Coordinator

OARS is now recruiting a TerraCorps Community Engagement Coordinator for the 2026-27 service year.

TerraCorps is a nonprofit organization working at the intersection of land conservation, sustainable farming, and local food systems to build local nonprofit capacity while growing the next generation of emerging leaders committed to making a difference at the community level.

TerraCorps partners with a network of nonprofits in Massachusetts and Rhode Island focused on community needs related to local land conservation and sustainable agriculture. These partners act as service sites for a new cohort of AmeriCorps service members annually. Service members are paired with a site supervisor who provides guidance and mentorship while they learn to manage community programs and projects over a 1,700-hour service term. The 2026–27 service year runs September 8, 2026, to July 30, 2027.

OARS is interviewing candidates for a Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC). The CEC will engage with OARS staff to manage volunteers on community service projects, educate or train individuals in environmental stewardship or environmentally conscious practices, and complete three capacity building projects.

Potential projects include:
• Engage residents via community engagement and public outreach associated with ecological restoration or land stewardship projects (e.g. dam removal, culvert assessments) to educate and promote river continuity.
• Educate the public about water quality data and improving educational materials related to science.
• Educate the public and engage volunteers for OARS land-based ecological activities, such as introduction of pollinator gardens, rain gardens, invasive species education and outreach events or canoe/kayak put-ins along the rivers.

Applications for this position must be submitted via the TerraCorps online application. The position description for the CEC at OARS can be found at TerraCorps Available Member Positions.
