Ingeborg Hegemann serves as the Interim Executive Director of OARS 3 Rivers. She brings decades of experience in environmental science, wetlands assessment, regulatory permitting, and climate change adaptation to the organization.

 

Before joining OARS in this role, Ingeborg retired as Vice President and Principal of the Ecological Sciences Group at BSC, where she led and contributed to a wide range of projects focused on wetlands science, environmental impact analysis, and climate resilience. Her work has supported municipalities, agencies, and organizations navigating complex environmental and regulatory challenges.

 

Ingeborg is deeply engaged in local and regional conservation efforts. She serves on the Stow Conservation Commission and the Stow Board of Selectmen and has held leadership and advisory roles with organizations including the Mystic River Watershed Association and the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions. She is also a member of the Society for Wetland Scientists’ Professional Certification Committee review panel.

 

She holds a BA in Geology from Skidmore College and a Master’s in Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania. Ingeborg is passionate about environmental education, water quality, and stewardship, and outside of work she enjoys beekeeping and cat rescue and fostering.

With a strong foundation of science, partnerships, and community trust, OARS is well-positioned to expand its impact in the coming decade.

 

Working closely with a committed Board of Directors and a talented staff team, the Executive Director will serve as OARS’ chief executive, strategist, fundraiser, and public ambassador—guiding the organization as it deepens its programs, broadens engagement, and advances bold, science-based solutions for watershed protection.
