Roger Beatty

Board Member

Roger recently retired from a career in senior management at several technology companies, including Cisco, 3COM, and HP. His professional focus was developing and delivering technical training curricula for networking and cybersecurity certification programs. Prior to his career in Silicon Valley, Roger helped build out the computer and network infrastructure at Stanford University. He relocated from the Bay Area in 2002 and has resided in Sudbury ever since. Roger holds a BA in English and Anthropology from Amherst College and an MA in Anthropology from Stanford.

 

River-related passions

In retirement, Roger has indulged his passion for outdoor activities, particularly on the water. He is now an avid four-season kayaker of the OARS watershed, logging close to 100 outings a year

 

Professional interests

Computer networking and cybersecurity; developing technical education programs; making complex technical concepts accessible to a non-technical audience

 

Other personal interests

Skiing, sailing, backpacking, and, especially, paddling our local rivers. He’s also an avid reader and a recovering 49ers fan
