PARTNER ORGANIZATION—Run of the Charles
Registration is now open for the Run of the Charles, Boston’s premier paddling race, returning on Sunday, April 27. Paddlers across New England, regardless of skill level, are encouraged to register now for this exciting event. The Run of the Charles is the largest flat-bottom boat race in New England, attracting hundreds of racers and spectators each year. Hosted by the Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA), this year’s race will feature a variety of race options, including the popular 14-mile relay race, which draws many corporate, government, and university teams. Additional race distances include 14, 9, 6, and 3 miles, making it accessible to paddlers of all experience levels. Paddlers can canoe, kayak, or paddleboard!
The Run of the Charles is one of the signature events of the Charles River Watershed Association, the leading science and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the health of the Charles River and its surrounding watershed. For over 60 years, CRWA has played a vital role in restoring the Charles River, re-establishing it as a prime destination for paddlers and nature lovers alike.
The Finish Line Festival at DCR’s Artesani Park in Brighton will be the hub for all race activities, with some races starting here as well. The festival is free to attend and promises a day of fun for all ages. Paddlers and spectators can enjoy live music, a variety of food offerings, and the camaraderie of fellow paddlers. Mi Corazon Taqueria Food Truck will be serving up traditional tacos, burritos, and more from 10 AM to 4 PM. Throughout the day, The Black Harp Traveling Irish Pub will offer three beers on tap, non-alcoholic beer from Athletic Brewing, and coffee and tea in the morning. Paddlers and spectators will also have access to a portable water fountain courtesy of MWRA, so don’t forget your reusable water bottles!
