Green landscaping, water conservation, proper disposal of unused medicines: small contributions can add up to meaningful river protection. For example, Geosyntec Consultants calculated that if we capture and treat stormwater (using rain gardens and other green landscaping techniques) from even 11% of the parcels in the Nashoba Brook watershed, we can prevent as much as 1190 pounds/year of phosphorus and 140 cubic yards/year of suspended solids from getting into the brook.
